Marcassin is truly a Cultwine with its incredibly rish, opulent Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines which are extremely difficult to obtain. Helen Turley's personal production winemaking philosophy is focused on quality and excellence always calling for, "great vineyards, meticulously farmed, limited yield, long hang time, and natural yeast." 

 

The 20-acre estate vineyard on the Sonoma Coast produces only 100 barrels annually. None of the wines interact with fining, filtering, or cold stabilization and are routinely aged for five years before they're released. This is truly one of California's most highly acclaimed, rare treasure: Marcassin Estate. Rating 93 RP - The 2001 Pinot Noir Blue Slide Ridge offers up aromas of blackberries, raspberry liqueur, and flowers (acacia or violets?). This intense, full-bodied, velvety-textured Pinot brilliantly combines power and elegance. A fabulous sweetness and purity of fruit goes on forever. Somewhere there must be some new oak since it is aged in 100% new Francois Freres barrels, but it has been soaked up by the wine's marvelous concentration. RP
