“RP96 - 1999 Pride Mountain Vineyards Reserve Claret The micro-cuvee about 200 cases of 1999 Reserve Claret two-thirds Merlot and one-third Cabernet Sauvignon is awesome! This candidate for wine of the vintage spent 24 months in both old and new French oak. It boasts an opaque purple color in addition to a sumptuous sweet bouquet of espresso blackberries cassis maple syrup and vanilla. It is long layered multidimensional sweet and thick on the palate possessing an unctuosity and concentration that must be tasted to be believed. Nevertheless it is well-balanced and incredibly pure as well as long. RP”

    About Pride Mountain Vineyards

Pride Mountain Vineyards was founded in 1990 by Jim and Carolyn Pride and since 2004 has been owned by their children Suzanne Pride Bryan and Steve Pride. From 2004, the winery has been run and managed by Steve Pride, CEO and Director of Winegrowing. Moreover, these wines catapult Pride Mountain into the top echelon of California's quality wineries.

Overall, their winemaking practices are traditional, even as they continue to evolve, and are designed to let the terroir signatures of the grapes be present in the finished wines.  The Bordeaux varieties of red grapes are 100% destemmed and fermented over a two-week period in stainless steel before being racked to 50% neutral and 50% new French barrels where they age for roughly 18 months with racking every 4 months.  An exception is the syrah that is only partially destemmed and is aged in 100% neutral barrels.
