This is so wonderfully soft and fleshy in feel; yet it’s energized by a zesty wave of acidity, as nuances of sour citrus give way to tart berries and a twang of wild herbs. There’s a wonderful inner sweetness here that makes tasting the 2001 a total pleasure, as it tapers off lightly structured and persistent to hints of licorice and dried plums.
