“Very pale lemon color. The nose conveys the high-pitched aromas of lemon, white pepper, lavender and iodiney oyster-shell minerality that only a dog can hear. Superconcentrated, elegant and weightless on the palate, conveying penetrating flavors of citrus peel, sea salt and liquid stone. Wonderfully energetic but without any corners. A great wine in the making: utterly seamless from start to sappy, palate-staining finish. Really bulletproof fruit here: it's hard to scrape this stuff off the palate.”
“The 2014 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur, which I did not taste last year from barrel, has a riveting bouquet with cold, wet limestone and slate-like aromas that are extremely focused. The palate is well defined with a keen thread of acidity, very saline with a mouthwatering sappiness on the finish. Stubbornly backward, almost sultry and petulant, it will need several years to really settle into its groove. I strongly suspect this has something up its sleeve for those who allow this to mature for several years in the cellar.”

Domaine François Raveneau is a noted producer based in the Burgundy subregion of Chablis, where the small plots of Chardonnay produce some of the appellation's most sought-after wines.
The domaine was founded in 1948, when Raveneau acquired new vineyard land through marriage. He was the first of his family to bottle wines made from the grapes from his vineyards – prior to this the grapes had been sold off to other producers. Today the domaine has 20 acres of land spread across three grand cru and six premier cru sites in Chablis.
