The color is a dense opaque purple. Note the wine's sweetness pureness and layers of ripe black fruits dosed with spicy new oak smoke Asian spices and an underlying mineral component. The antithesis of a lightweight red wine this massive full-bodied glycerin-endowed super-concentrated wine has maintained its equilibrium despite its enormousness. The sweetness and silky tannin so characteristic of the 1994 vintage are present but I would opt for aging the 1994 Maya 5-7 years and drinking it over the following 25-30.
