Cabernet Sauvignon · North Coast
95 points from Robert Parker.
“1994 Pride Mountain Vineyards Cabernet Magnum The massive, opaque purple-colored 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon is extremely backward and dense, and requires another 2-3 years of bottle age. The wine is formidably-endowed, with gobs of smoky blackcurrant fruit intelligently wrapped with toasty oak from aging in new barrels. Full-bodied, rich, powerful, muscular, and tannic, this is an impressive, immense Cabernet Sauvignon that is impeccably well-balanced for its huge size. RP”
Every detail we hold on this bottle, in one place, so you know exactly what is going into your cellar.
Pride Mountain Vineyards was founded in 1990 by Jim and Carolyn Pride and since 2004 has been owned by their children Suzanne Pride Bryan and Steve Pride. From 2004, the winery has been run and managed by Steve Pride, CEO and Director of Winegrowing. Moreover, these wines catapult Pride Mountain into the top echelon of California's quality wineries.
Overall, their winemaking practices are traditional, even as they continue to evolve, and are designed to let the terroir signatures of the grapes be present in the finished wines. The Bordeaux varieties of red grapes are 100% destemmed and fermented over a two-week period in stainless steel before being racked to 50% neutral and 50% new French barrels where they age for roughly 18 months with racking every 4 months. An exception is the syrah that is only partially destemmed and is aged in 100% neutral barrels.
One bottle, 1500 ml, of the 1994 vintage.
