Robert Mondavi, who had such a profound influence on the quality of American wine, unfortunately left us to be with the Lord in 2008. He had plenty of reasons to feel great about his wines as they continue to represent some of the finest reference points for what California expressions can achieve.

Layers of fruit, glycerin, extract, and sweet tannin are presented in a flamboyant format. The tannin level is high, but so is the wine's richness and length. It is a sensational effort.
