Robert Parker 96 RP - A new offering the 2003 Chardonnay Reuling Vineyard 200 cases produced tastes like liqueur of stones. Reminiscent of an old vine white Hermitage from Michel Chapoutier or a top Burgundy from Meursault-Perrieres Montrachet or Chevalier Montrachet it exhibits wonderful stone fruit/smoky notes huge body and crisp acidity to buttress the enormous power and wealth of concentration. This is an extraordinarily singular expression of Chardonnay that must be tasted to be believed. The California wine that comes closest to it is Marcassin's Estate Chardonnay. I can only think of one or two other California producers who made anything close to the quality of this riveting Chardonnay in 2003. RP
