Nigel Kinsman is the very talented young winemaker behind the Araujo's new Accendo project and the recently autonomous Bella Oaks estate. In 2016, he and his wife Shae started their own label, based on fruit from the old Reverie vineyard on Diamond Mountain (just across from Diamond Creek's vineyards) and Sleeping Lady vineyard.


This year, they managed to add an absolute treasure of a vineyard find to their lineup: Geeslin vineyard, next to Eisele vineyard in Calistoga. After a bumpy start necessitating a name change from Kinsman to Kinsman Eades and the challenges of the 2017 vintage, this 2018 trio of wines really shows the sky's-the-limit potential here. Robert Parker 98+ RP - The 2018 Proprietary Red Wine is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it slips slowly, sensuously out of the glass with expanding notions of blackcurrant pastilles, fresh, ripe blackberries and preserved black cherries with suggestions of iron ore, garrigue and dusty soil plus a waft of black olives. The full-bodied palate is tightly coiled with tons of black fruit and earthy layers supported by firm, finely grained tannins and bags of freshness, finishing long and mineral laced. A highly energetic wine with an amazing array of bright sparks—this is an absolute jaw-dropper!
