2008 Bevan Cellars David's Cuvee Showket Vineyard Red Proprietary Red - 95 pts

Bevan Cellars is a producer of Napa Valley and Sonoma wines based in Bennett Valley. It sources fruit from vineyards across the two major wine regions to produce small-lot wines made primarily of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Bevan Cellars' full-bodied, richly flavored wines score high with the press, making them highly coveted by collectors, and usually only available on allocation.

The estate was founded by Russell Bevan and Victoria De Crescenzo in 2005. Before relocating to California, the two made regular trips to Napa Valley where they met and were mentored by esteemed winemakers Philip Togni and Bob Foley.

Bevan Cellars is most famous for its red wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon, both varietal and as part of a Bordeaux blend. These wines include the Sugar Loaf Mountain Red, the Tin Box, and the McGah Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, all of which have been awarded 100-point scores by American wine critic Robert Parker

Robert Parker 95 RP - The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Showket Vineyard David’s Cuvee offers pure notes of cedarwood, spice box, creme de cassis, licorice and blueberries. The explosive finish and overall quality of this wine reminds me of some of the Schrader-Beckstoffer To-Kalon Cabernet Sauvignons made by Thomas Brown. This wine should have at least 20 years of potential.
Wine Spectator 95 WS - A classy, stylish wine that shows off an herb and olive side, joining cedar, sandalwood, ripe plum, cassis and blackberry fruit that's spicy, firm and full-bodied. Impressive for its polished tannins and finesse, ending with subtle, detailed flavors.
