Coche-Dury is a highly regarded producer based in Meursault, Burgundy. While they make some red wines from Pinot Noir, the house is famous for its highly collectible white wines made from Chardonnay. In fact, Coche-Dury's Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru wine is consistently ranked among the top 100 most expensive wines available on Wine-Searcher.
The Domaine was founded in the 1970s following the marriage of Jean-François Coche and Odile Dury, although the Coche family has been making wine in Meursault for several generations. Now, as well as holdings in Meursault, the family have vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet, Auxey-Duresses, Monthelie, Volnay and in the Corton Grand Cru vineyard. All up, the Coche-Dury holdings represent around nine hectares (22 acres) worth, about half of which are in Meursault itself.

| Rating | 95 - 2002 Domaine Coche-Dury Les Perrieres Burgundy - 95-97 pts! Described by Coche as “hyper-ripe,†the 2002 Meursault Perrieres sports a nose of sweet candied apples. It is broad, rich, hugely concentrated, deep, and amazingly long in the finish. Fat layers of pure, detailed minerals and gravel can be found in its complex personality. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2016. Note: Jean-Francois Coche labels five different wines as “Meursault,†the Vireuils-Dessous, Vireuils-Dessus, La Barre, Narvaux, and from an as-yet-unnamed parcel (it may be called “Chaumesâ€) on the top of the Meursault hill that belongs to his son Raphael. His US importer, Kermit Lynch, generally purchases only the Meursault from the Narvaux vineyard, but there is no way of knowing which “Meursault†is being purchased from the gray market. RP |
