Robert Parker
Robert Parker | 96 RP - The 1999 Clos de La Roche is the darkest of Lignier's offerings, verging on being dark ruby-colored. It exhibits a black cherry, blackberry, licorice, and violet-scented nose that leads to its explosive, immensely flavorful character. Medium to full-bodied and pure, this fresh, sweet wine is packed to the gills with cherries, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Ample yet highly delineated, it has a magnificently long, fruit-filled finish. RP |

Burghound
Burghound | 94 BH - A wonderfully complex and notably ripe nose that has become much more expressive over the years is followed by big, concentrated and powerful large-scaled flavors that are blessed with stunning length and fine complexity. The mouth feel is relatively understated for such a big wine but it packs excellent flavor authority and overall, this is a very classy wine of both power and elegance that is drinking perfectly now. Mostly consistent experience over multiple bottles as my ratings have been tightly bunched between 93 and 94 points. |
