2010 Fourrier Griottes-Chambertin Burgundy - 95 pts!

Domaine Fourrier is a Burgundy wine estate based in Gevrey-Chambertin on the Côte d'Or. Its wines, mostly made from Pinot Noir, are highly sought-after and known for their silky finesse. Fourrier is perhaps best known for its wine from the famed Clos Saint-Jacques Premier Cru vineyard.

The domaine's vineyard holdings total 8.7 hectares (21.5 acres), located predominantly in Gevrey-Chambertin. These include parcels in seven different Gevrey-Chambertin premier cru sites, and a small plot in the Griottes-Chambertin Grand Cru vineyard. Plots in Chambolle-Musigny, including two Premier Crus, Morey-Saint-Denis and the Les Petits Vougeots Premier Cru vineyard complete the portfolio. Only fruit from vines older than 30 years old are used to make Domaine Fourrier wines.

Robert Parker

Rating 94-96 RP - The 2010 Griotte-Chambertin shows the more elusive, intellectual side of Burgundy at its finest. Silky tannins support a highly expressive, sensual core of sweet red cherries, freshly cut flowers and tobacco. Although somewhat elusive, there is plenty of depth, mid-palate richness and structure for this to drink well for many, many years.

Burghound

Burghound 95 BH - A very densely fruited and overtly ripe nose offers up a variety of red berry fruit liqueur aromas that include cherry and raspberry as well as hints of earth, underbrush and a subtle note of wet stone. There is excellent intensity to the supple and extremely rich yet focused, balanced and beautifully well-detailed flavors that possess a caressing mouth feel. The structural elements are completely ripe and there is a really lovely underlying tension that runs the length of the wine and this embodies that most attractive of qualities, which is to say power without weight. This is brilliant and should age that way too. I would strongly advise decanting this as well.
