1996 Domaine Denis Mortet Gevrey Chambertin Burgundy
Domaine Denis Mortet is a producer from the village of Gevrey-Chambertin in the Côte de Nuits in northern Burgundy, known for its high-quality wines made from Pinot Noir. The domaine began in 1956 when Charles Mortet bought a single hectare of vines and began selling fruit to merchant houses. Mortet's son Denis, and his wife Laurence, began working on the estate in 1978. In the early 1990s, Denis took over and established Domaine Denis Mortet.

Robert Parker

Robert Parker This black-colored wine has complex aromas of earth, cassis-liqueur, and beef blood. This big, broad, ample, medium-to-full-bodied, and expressive wine displays layer upon layer of candied black cherries, cassis, and spiced oak in its flavor profile. However, I am concerned because of the preponderance of dry, oaky tannins in this potentially outstanding wine's finish.
