2010 Stella di Campalto Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
Stella di Campalto is small-scale Tuscan wine producer situated close to the hilltop town of Montalcino. The estate specializes in producing Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino and Sant'Antimo wines from its selection of small "cru" vineyards.
Stella di Campalto typically ages its Rosso di Montalcino wine in barrel for approximately 22 months, followed by bottle aging for anywhere between 5 and 21 months. The estate's single Brunello di Montalcino wine, on the other hand, will spend an average of 42 months in barrel before being aged in bottle for between 9 and 26 months, depending on the vintage.

Wine Spectator 93 WS - 1990 Poggio Antico Brunello di Montalcino Riserva A blockbuster, with loads of fruit flavor, especially coconut, pouring out of the glass. Full-bodied and rich, with velvety tannins, yet slightly astringent on the finish.

Robert Parker Rating 96 RP - This wine will be released in October or November 2016. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a masculine expression from the wild and rustic quadrant of the Montalcino appellation where Stella has her beautiful vineyards. The bouquet delivers sheer power and determination with dark fruit followed by smoke and crushed mineral. Slightly shut down at first, the wine opens to a silky and polished texture once it starts to gain momentum. The finish is smooth and long.
Antonio Galloni Rating 97 AG - I saw Stella di Campalto’s 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva and knew we had to have it. I absolutely adore the 2010 for its transparent yet deep expression of Sangiovese grown in the wild, southern reaches of Montalcino. The pure Sangiovese flavors, bright acids and mid-weight structure work beautifully with the various dishes. Readers lucky enough to own the 2010 are in for a real treat. I certainly will treasure the bottles I have in my cellar.
