2018 Kinsman Eades Rhadamanthus Cabernet Sauvignon - 100 pts AG!
Nigel Kinsman is the very talented young winemaker behind the Araujo's new Accendo project and the recently autonomous Bella Oaks estate. In 2016, he and his wife Shae started their own label, based on fruit from the old Reverie vineyard on Diamond Mountain (just across from Diamond Creek's vineyards) and Sleeping Lady vineyard.

This year, they managed to add an absolute treasure of a vineyard find to their lineup: Geeslin vineyard, next to Eisele vineyard in Calistoga. After a bumpy start necessitating a name change from Kinsman to Kinsman Eades and the challenges of the 2017 vintage, this 2018 trio of wines really shows the sky's-the-limit potential here. Wow!

Robert Parker 97 RP - The 2018 Rhadamanthus is a single-vineyard wine coming from the old Revery vineyard on Diamond Mountain. It is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, all co-fermented. Deep garnet-purple, it comes barreling out of the glass with bold scents of black cherries, blueberry compote and warm cassis with hints of roses, clove oil, tilled soil and chocolate box. Medium-bodied, the beguiling black fruits are simply ethereal, dancing on the palate with beautiful mineral accents, supported by firm, fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, culminating in a long, perfumed finish.

100 AG - "An utterly magnificent wine, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Rhadamanthus Diamond Mountain District is creamy, ample and super-expressive, with layers of fruit presently masking quite a bit of the mountain tannin. Inky dark fruit, licorice, gravel, spice. All the elements come together effortlessly in this sumptuous, explosive Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2018 is so elegant, so pure, so refined. I loved it. In a word: monumental.
