Kongsgaard is a cult California wine producer widely renowned for making richly textured yet elegant Chardonnays, which are among the very best in California. The wines have received numerous accolades from critics, including Robert Parker who gave the 2013 vintage of The Judge 100 points, calling it "certainly one of the greatest Chardonnays I have ever tasted".
John Kongsgaard is one of the most lauded winemakers in the US, having previously made wine for Newton, Luna and Arietta.
The Kings Farm (the translation of Kongsgaard) range are the "little brothers and sisters" of the main brand. These wines are made in small quantities and initially only available to mailing-list customers.

| Robert Parker | 100 RP - The 2015 Chardonnay The Judge may well be one of the all-time greatest Chardonnays ever made in California. It took 12 months to ferment dry and it is incredibly concentrated, like the quintessential Chardonnay – with lemon custard pie notes intermixed with orange marmalade, white peach, honeysuckle and a liqueur of rocks, all in a full-bodied, super-dense style that remains relatively light on its feet. This Chardonnay could be mythical! Another wine I love from Kongsgaard, but he doesn’t make much of it (under 100 cases), is the blend of 60% Viognier and 40% Roussanne called VioRous, all coming from The Judge Vineyard. |
