1997 Lokoya Diamond Mountain Cabernet - 95 pts!
Established in 1995, Lokoya is a collection of four distinct Cabernet Sauvignons from four of Napa Valley’s most celebrated mountain appellations: Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain and Diamond Mountain. These limited-production wines are 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented with native yeast, and bottled unfined and unfiltered, resulting in the purest expression of place. Several 100 point scores from Robert Parker have launched this wine to Cult Status.

Given the high elevation of the sites, the vineyards demand constant attention. The deep understanding of the vineyard trajectory in each vintage comes from Winemaker Christopher Carpenter’s years of expertise. Intervention is kept to a minimum both in the vineyard and in the cellar, leaving the fruit to express itself as naturally and eloquently as possible.

Rating 95 RP - 1997 Lokoya Diamond Mountain Cabernet - 95 pts Opulent sexy and immediately charming is the 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain 1100 cases. It exhibits a saturated purple color in addition to an explosive nose of licorice cedar roasted herbs and black plums and currants. Full-bodied with a voluptuous texture low acidity and heady alcohol this offering possesses considerable tannin but it is beautifully submerged by the wine's depth of extract and high glycerin. Impressive with a flamboyant personality this 1997 should drink well for 18-20 years. RP
