Wine Spectator | 93 WS - Aromas of currant, blackberry and light vanilla. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and lovely fruit. Enticing and refined. Best after 2009. 1,335 cases made, 500 cases imported. |

Antonio Galloni |
95 AG - With a color that starts ruby at the core, reddish peach toward the middle and slightly amber around the rim, the 2001 Brunello di Montalcino opens like a cedar spice box full of cloves and allspice, with crushed black cherries and hints of sage. This is so wonderfully soft and fleshy in feel; yet it’s energized by a zesty wave of acidity, as nuances of sour citrus give way to tart berries and a twang of wild herbs. There’s a wonderful inner sweetness here that makes tasting the 2001 a total pleasure, as it tapers off lightly structured and persistent to hints of licorice and dried plums. The best part is that nothing has changed in the vineyard or with the winemaking process at Le Potazzine since 2001. |
