Robert Parker | 92 RP - 2005 Weingut Dr Loosen Bernkasteler Lay Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese - Special Selection - 250 ml OWC - The first of four T.B.A.s. 2005 Bernkasteler Lay Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese offers intense aromas of cherry liqueur, citrus oil, wood smoke, and bitter-sweet, medicinal herbal distillates. In the mouth, this is creamy in texture and candied in its sweetness and concentration of cherry and herb, alleviated only by a stream of fresh lime citricity. Imposingly rich though this is, it is overbearingly sweet and thick in its finish and lacks the juiciness or lift that characterize the best 2005's or that entice one to take the next sip. |
