2004 Peter Michael Point Rouge Chardonnay - 95+ pts!
One of the most exciting in California, this beautiful winery is owned by Englishman Sir Peter Michael. When he launched this winery, Michael had the foresight originally to hire the brilliant Helen Turley to oversee the winemaking. The current vineyard/winemaking team, Nicolas Morlet whom took over from his brother Luc, shares Ms. Turley's winemaking philosophy.

The present as well as upcoming releases are irrefutably brilliant wines. Peter Michael produces amazing single vineyard Cabernet, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc as well. Peter Michael Winery remains a family-owned estate that is now run by Peter's son Paul. Only a small number of cases reach the retail market as the majority are set aside for the mailing list and long-term restaurant clientele.

Rating RP95 - The powerful 2004 Chardonnay Point Rouge is unevolved and backward with high acidity. It behaves like a young red wine in the mouth, revealing plenty of tannin, huge body, and loads of creme brulee, tangerine, lemon grass, buttered citrus, and smoky hazelnut characteristics.
