Spottswoode is a historic, Napa Valley wine producer, located in St Helena. The family-owned estate have been producing wine from Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah for multiple generations.
The estate itself was established in 1882 by George Schonewald. As well as planting the vineyard, he also constructed the Victorian farmhouse which remains on the estate today. It came under its current ownership in 1972 when the Novak family purchased the estate. The first Cabernet Sauvignon wine released in 1982.

Robert Parker | 97+ RP - Clearly a stupendous effort but just far too young at this stage, Spottswoode's 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a concentrated, velvety core of black cherries, cassis and dusty loam, then supports it with hints of cedar and toasted oak. It's full-bodied, rich and youthfully intense, with a long, compelling finish that just won't quit. Give it a few more years, and it may indeed reach the perfection my predecessor predicted for it. |
