1994 Pride Mountain Vineyards Reserve Cabernet - 95 pts! 1st Vintage!
Pride Mountain Vineyards was founded in 1990 by Jim and Carolyn Pride and since 2004 has been owned by their children Suzanne Pride Bryan and Steve Pride. From 2004, the winery has been run and managed by Steve Pride, CEO and Director of Winegrowing. Moreover, these wines catapult Pride Mountain into the top echelon of California's quality wineries.

Overall, their winemaking practices are traditional, even as they continue to evolve, and are designed to let the terroir signatures of the grapes be present in the finished wines.  The Bordeaux varieties of red grapes are 100% destemmed and fermented over a two-week period in stainless steel before being racked to 50% neutral and 50% new French barrels where they age for roughly 18 months with racking every 4 months.  An exception is the syrah that is only partially destemmed and is aged in 100% neutral barrels.

Rating 95 RP - 1st Vintage! The 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve the first Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon they have made is produced from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged completely in French oak casks. It is another profound Cabernet from the exceptional 1994 vintage. The wine's opaque purple color and huge massive richness do not come across as heavy despite the wine's extraordinary intensity and thickness. There is enough acidity for freshness and plenty of sweet well-integrated tannin. This large-scaled magnificently-endowed Cabernet Sauvignon needs 5-6 years of cellaring but it should keep for 25+ years. This Spring Mountain winery continues to push the envelope of quality as evidenced by the current releases - the finest wines they have yet produced.
