1997 Marcassin Blue Slide Ridge Pinot - 96 pts!
Marcassin is truly a Cultwine with its incredibly rish, opulent Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines which are extremely difficult to obtain. Helen Turley's personal production winemaking philosophy is focused on quality and excellence always calling for, "great vineyards, meticulously farmed, limited yield, long hang time, and natural yeast."

The 20-acre estate vineyard on the Sonoma Coast produces only 100 barrels annually. None of the wines interact with fining, filtering, or cold stabilization and are routinely aged for five years before they're released. This is truly one of California's most highly acclaimed, rare treasure: Marcassin Estate. The CultWine rules always applies with Marcassin.........."Find it............Buy it............Drink it!"

Robert Parker

Robert Parker 96 RP - The spectacularly complex, opulently-textured, lavishly rich 1997 Pinot Noir Blue Slide Ridge displays a saturated plum/purple color in addition to gorgeous aromas of blueberries, black cherries, lavender, and smoky oak. Intense and full-bodied, with fabulous concentration, a voluptuous texture, and a long finish, this is a stunning effort. Sadly, production was minuscule - 25 cases. This wine is available through the winery's mailing list, although some preferred Napa Valley restaurants, particularly the French Laundry, and in New York (Daniel and La Bernadin), seem to receive noteworthy allocations.
