Coche-Dury is a highly regarded producer based in Meursault, Burgundy. While they make some red wines from Pinot Noir, the house is famous for its highly collectible white wines made from Chardonnay. In fact, Coche-Dury's Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru wine is consistently ranked among the top 100 most expensive wines available on Wine-Searcher.
The Domaine was founded in the 1970s following the marriage of Jean-François Coche and Odile Dury, although the Coche family has been making wine in Meursault for several generations. Now, as well as holdings in Meursault, the family have vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet, Auxey-Duresses, Monthelie, Volnay and in the Corton Grand Cru vineyard. All up, the Coche-Dury holdings represent around nine hectares (22 acres) worth, about half of which are in Meursault itself.

Rating | 1999 Domaine Coche-Dury Mersault Rougeots Burgundy Quintessential Meursault nose with the power of the Meursault Dessous and the elegance and detail of the Chevalières. Wonderfully nuanced and while this delivers wonderful intensity, there is no heaviness yet the finish goes on and on. Hard to believe this is only a villages as it knocks on the door of grand cru quality. Accessible now but will certainly repay cellaring. Bravo! BH The 1999 Meursault Rougeots exhibits crisp pear, spice, and mineral aromas. This hugely expressive, medium-bodied wine has outstanding amplitude to its imposing, chewy-textured, and velvety personality. Toast, liquid minerals, and spices can be found throughout its impressive, powerful character and finish. RP |
