Alban Vineyards is a California estate with a global reputation for its powerful Rhône-influenced blends and varietal wines, which are all sold on allocation, with a lengthy waiting list.
The company is located in the Edna Valley in the southern corner of San Luis Obispo County. In total, Alban has 27 hectares (66 acres) under vine mostly located around the winery. This land has a range of different soil types and mesoclimates, making site selection vital. Alban produces around 6000 cases of wine per year, and has also sold grapes to many other producers of note, including Sine Qua Non.

Robert Parker | 94 RP - Named after John Alban's raven-haired wife, the 2001 Syrah Lorraine Vineyard (150 six-packs) exhibits a saturated purple color to the rim along with explosive aromas of acacia flowers and blackberries, full body, and admirable acidity. Impressively endowed, thick, and multilayered with considerable flavor dimension as well as character, it will drink beautifully for a decade or more. |
