Syrah · Central Coast
99 points from Robert Parker.
“2003 Alban Vineyards Lorraine Vineyard Estate Syrah - 99 pts The limited production, well-structured, black/purple-tinged 2003 Syrah Lorraine Vineyard reveals oak along with tremendous amounts of creme de cassis-like characteristics. Dense, full-bodied, and rich with superb acidity, high, but well-integrated tannin, and a seamless finish that lasts over 60 seconds, this stunning effort is the finest Lorraine Syrah I have tasted. Alban Vineyards is a California estate with a global reputation for its powerful Rhône-influenced blends and varietal wines, which are all sold on allocation, with a lengthy waiting list.

This land has a range of different soil types and mesoclimates, making site selection vital.
