2003 Peter Michael Mon Plaisir Chardonnay - 94 pts!
One of the most exciting in California, this beautiful winery is owned by Englishman Sir Peter Michael. When he launched this winery, Michael had the foresight originally to hire the brilliant Helen Turley to oversee the winemaking. The current vineyard/winemaking team, Nicolas Morlet whom took over from his brother Luc, shares Ms. Turley's winemaking philosophy.

The present as well as upcoming releases are irrefutably brilliant wines. Peter Michael produces amazing single vineyard Cabernet, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc as well. Peter Michael Winery remains a family-owned estate that is now run by Peter's son Paul. Only a small number of cases reach the retail market as the majority are set aside for the mailing list and long-term restaurant clientele.

Rating RP94 - There are 1,000 cases of the 2003 Chardonnay Mon Plaisir, which offers a lovely tropical fruit and hazelnut-scented bouquet as well as broad, lush, concentrated flavors. This beautiful effort, which sees about 60% new French oak, should drink well for 4-5 years. RP
