Les Champs Gain is a Premier Cru climate in the center of the Chassagne-Montrachet commune at the southern end of the Côte d'Or. It is planted to both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, making both red and white wines, but it is the medium-bodied, rounded white wines that attract the most attention from critics and wine lovers alike.

| Burghound | 95 BH - 2002 Domaine Georges Roumier Bonnes Mares Burgundy - 95 BH The nose hasn't budged an inch since my original review in-bottle review and rests entirely in the red fruit spectrum and rather than spice, there is an intense floral and violet quality followed by detailed, ultra pure and tautly muscular flavors that deliver real punch and a lovely minerality on the incredibly long backend. A complete and seamless wine of enormous complexity and considerable underlying reserve plus enough structure for at least three plus decades of life. A great effort that is even better than I originally thought it could be from cask and because it appears to be evolving at a snail's pace, I have extended my initial suggested drinking window accordingly.
