2008 Morlet Family Vineyards Coteaux Nobles Pinot Noir
Morlet's approach to winemaking is minimalist and Old World in style, using classical techniques from Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne.

The grapes are picked by hand, then destemmed and double-sorted when they reach the St. Helena winery. Native yeasts carry out the fermentation process, and wines are aged in French oak barrels before release.

Robert Parker 96 RP - The Coteaux Nobles Pinot Noir comes from 27-year-old vines planted at the Nobles Ranch vineyard in Fort Ross-Seaview AVA. Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2017 Pinot Noir Coteaux Nobles has the most intense, fragrant perfume of warm cranberries, redcurrant jelly and fresh raspberries with hints of cinnamon stick, wild sage, underbrush and damp soil plus a waft of candied violets. Medium to full-bodied, the palate bursts with vivacity and freshness, offering layers of red berry and earthy flavors and a very finely grained texture, finishing long and perfumed. 400 cases were made.

Robert Parker Rating The dark ruby-hued 2008 Pinot Noir Coteaux Nobles exhibits lots of herbs, earth, plum and dusty, loamy soil notes intertwined with hints of smoke, black cherries and intriguing barbecue characteristics.
Antonio Galloni Rating Full red. Very ripe, expressive aromas of strawberry liqueur, griotte cherry and raspberry jam. Then sappy, juicy and intense in the mouth, with pungent dark berry flavors complicated by spices, smoke and intriguing soil tones. For all its sweetness of fruit this pinot is classically dry in an Old World way. Winemaker Morlet used only 25% new oak for his pinots in 2008.
