2013 Williams Selyem Burt Williams Morning Dew Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir
It began in the late 1970s, initially as a garage project by Ed Selyem and Burt Williams in Forestville, a community in Sonoma County. In 1981 the pair – who were neighbors – officially named their project Hacienda Del Rio and established it as a legal winery. Two years later, the release of their first commeSOTTrcial vintage (1981) coincided with a cease-and-desist order from Hacienda Winery, leading them to change their name to Williams Selyem.

Williams Selyem found its success buying and bottling single-vineyard wines, with Pinot Noir as the focus. Single-vineyard wines were not new to California, but the first for Williams Selyem was its 1985 Rochioli Vineyard Pinot Noir.

While Pinot Noir dominates production, Williams Selyem also makes a small amount of Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and a Port-style fortified dessert wine. These offerings vary in production from year to year but many also carry single-vineyard designations.

Robert Parker Rating From the founder, the 2013 Pinot Noir Burt William's Morning Dew Ranch from Anderson Valley has a deep ruby/plum color, sweet black cherry fruit, some forest floor and earth. There is a hint of blue fruit, but not nearly as dominant as in the Ferrington Vineyard.
Antonio Galloni Rating 92 AG - The 2013 Pinot Noir Burt Williams’ Morning Dew Ranch offers an attractive interplay of dense dark fruit and more savory, earthy notes that lurk beneath. Tobacco, menthol, incense and smoke contribute to the wine's dark, virile personality. The 2013 could use another year or more in bottle, but I expect it will always remain rather brooding in personality.
Wine Spectator Rating Fresh and snappy, with vibrant red plum and black cherry notes, floral scents and fine-grained tannins, ending with a cleansing aftertaste that echoes the subtle flavor nuances.
