Upon his retirement from the NFL in 2007, Drew Bledsoe "doubled back" to his hometown of Walla Walla, Washington to realize a long held dream. Drew and his Wife, Maura, purchased a piece of property on the southern edge of the Walla Walla Valley AVA and subsequently launched Doubleback as an estate focused winery with the goal of crafting America's best Cabernet Sauvignon in an elegant, true to varietal way. Drew had long been planning for this moment during his years playing football and success came immediately as the very first vintage earned a spot in Wine Spectator's Top 100 List.
Watching over four estate vineyards within the Walla Walla Valley, each one representing a unique soil series, elevation, aspect, and micro-climate in this small area. Each of these differences bring something truly special to the final blend. We farm these sites with our own incredible team that is wholeheartedly focused on building balanced ecosystems through sustainable and organic farming practices. We take the same focus in executing sustainable efforts to better our people and our own communities and truly believe these practices unequivocally lead to producing better wines.

Robert Parker | Displaying a deep ruby core and purple highlights at the rim, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with fresh, ripe and juicy fruit tones of Chambord, crème de cassis and plum reduction before offering elements of lavender and violet in the glass. Full-bodied and juicy, the palate is generous, showing dusty tannins that will take some time to subside. It ends with persistent flavors of crème de violette, stewed blackberries and clove. The wine rested for about two years in two-thirds new French oak barrels before being bottled. |

95 AG - Like cracking open an ashen stone to find dark exotic spices, a dusting of cocoa, dried mint and black cherries, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon sets off all of the aromatic pleasure sensors. This is velvety, with dense textural waves of black raspberry and blackberry offset by notes of dark, dark chocolate and sour citrus. This tapers off with incredible length, precision and a mentholated freshness that adds lift through the structured finale. The 2019 is a vintage of Doubleback to lose in the cellar. Bravo. |
