THE ECOTONE VINEYARD sits in its own little valley, above Saint Helena but below Howell Mountain. These gnarled, thirty-three-year-old vines have roots that push deep into the site’s rare, white, volcanic tufa. By late summer, the soil is “moon dust” that on even the shortest of vineyard walks, coats your jeans white up to your knees. Graeme says, “The site’s characteristic aromas of blackberry, sage, lavender and olive, in combination with the rare juxtaposition of power and finesse, make this one of my favorite vineyards in the Napa Valley.”
