Domaine Rostaing, often called René Rostaing after its founder, is a leading wine estate in the Côte-Rôtie region of the Northern Rhône, and particularly known for its Syrah wines.
The first Rostaing wine was produced in 1971 when the estate covered a mere 1.5 hectares (3.7 acres) split between the Côte Blonde and La Landonne sub-regions. This slowly grew as Rostaing purchased additional plots and the took over his uncle's and his father-in-law's vineyards. Today the domaine has just over 7ha (18 acres) of vineyards in Côte Rôtie – which is quite large by the region's standards – plus 1ha (2.5 acres) in Condrieu, which produces the La Bonnette cuvee. Rostaing also owns a small plot in Lézardes, on the northern border of Côte Rôtie, where he makes Syrah and Viognier wines under the IGP Collines Rhodaniennes designation.
Rostaing makes several Côte Rôtie wines. This includes cuvées from both the La Landonne and Côte Blonde subregions, and the Ampodium, which comes from other sites within the appellation. These are aged in a mix of small and large barrels with a very small proportion of new oak.
